AZ Gov. Brewer Admits, Er, Misspeaking about Evil Illegals

If you’ve listened to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer in recent months, you’d think that all the evils in her state come from undocumented immigrants, especially those of the brown skin persuasion.

Indeed, the muscle behind the unseemly SB 1070 immigration law, which threatened to turn Arizona into a police state before a wonderful judge cut it down to size, would have had you believe that pretty much all undocumented Mexicans are members of some drug cartel doing dirty doings.

Kidnapping people.

Extorting people.

Smuggling contraband across the border.

And even beheading people in the Arizona desert.

My, oh, my, oh, my, that lady certainly knows a thing or two about demonizing Mexican immigrants, huh?

Well, now, in an interview with The Associated Press, the Gabby Gov has backed off a bit, at least about the beheadings. “That was an error, if I said that,” she said. “I misspoke, but you know, let me be clear, I am concerned about the border region because it continues to be reported in Mexico that there’s a lot of violence going on and we don’t want that going into Arizona.”

Okay, so it’s not the greatest apology in the world. But, hey, we’ll take what we can get, right?
