A word of advice about Twitter: If you want your tweets to hit the desired target, you should definitely paste a hashtag (the symbol # followed by a word or words fused together) on them. Tagging tweets makes sifting through zillions of tweets and finding a certain topic a snap. This obviously applies to immigration, which is a trendy topic on Twitter these days. So, if you’re looking for tweets about immigration or, for that matter, looking to tweet them out yourself, these are the hashtags you should know:
1. #immigration (a no-brainer) – the umbrella under which immigration tweets are located.
2. #cir - Comprehensive Immigration Reform.
3. #cirasap – Comprehensive Immigration Reform As Soon As Possible.
4. #SB1070 – Senate Bill 1070 (Arizona’s new immigration law).
5. #ri4a – Reform Immigration for America, a united national effort that brings together individuals and grassroots organizations with the mission to build support for workable comprehensive immigration reform. The Campaign to Reform Immigration for America is, in part, a project of the Tides Advocacy Fund.
6. #p2 – Progessives 2.0.
7. #dwn – Detention Watch Network.
8. #DREAMact - DREAM Act.
9. #immyouth – Immigration Youth (Movement).
10. #StopICE – Stop (abuses of) Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
And it’s quite normal to even use more than one of these hastags for a single post.
Go for it!
